Psychological Testing & Assessment Services

Comprehensive Psychological Testing

Psychological testing can provide deeper answers when therapy, school supports, or medical evaluations have not fully explained what someone is experiencing. Testing uses interviews, standardized assessment tools, behavioral observations, and clinical interpretation to better understand emotional, behavioral, cognitive, academic, developmental, and personality functioning.

Our practice offers psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What the Evaluation Process Looks Like

1

Initial Consultation

We begin with a clinical interview to discuss concerns, history, symptoms, and goals for the evaluation.

2

Testing Sessions

We work with you online or in person to complete standardized testing for your situation. Testing can be administered over one or more appointments depending on the complexity of the evaluation.

3

Scoring & Interpretation

Get detailed feedback and tailored recommendations to help you move forward. Significant professional time is spent reviewing records, scoring measures, interpreting results, integrating data, and preparing recommendations.

4

Feedback Appointment

Results and recommendations are reviewed in detail with the client and/or parent so you always know your next steps.

5

Written Report

You’ll receive a comprehensive report following completion of the evaluation.

Insurance & Private Pay Information

Psychological testing is unique because insurance companies may cover some portions of the evaluation process while other portions may not be fully covered or may be considered non-covered services.

Our practice uses a blended billing model that may include both insurance billing and private pay components.

Services That May Be Private Pay

Some services may not be reimbursable through insurance and may require private payment.

Examples can include:

  • Extensive record review beyond insurance limitations

  • School consultation or attendance at meetings

  • Certain educational or non-medically necessary assessments

  • Additional report customization

  • Late cancellations or no-show appointments

  • Time exceeding insurance authorization limits

Before testing begins, we discuss anticipated costs, insurance limitations, and any expected private-pay responsibilities so there are no surprises.

Services That May Be Billed to Insurance

When medically necessary and covered by your plan, portions of the evaluation may be billed to insurance using psychological testing codes. Coverage varies significantly between insurance companies and plans.

Insurance may cover services such as:

  • Clinical interviews

  • Test administration

  • Interpretation and report writing

  • Feedback sessions

Coverage is never guaranteed, and clients remain responsible for deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, denied claims, or non-covered services.

Important Insurance Considerations

Insurance companies determine:

  • Whether testing is considered medically necessary

  • Which diagnoses qualify for coverage

  • The number of approved testing hours

  • Which testing procedures are reimbursable

Because insurance policies differ widely, we strongly encourage clients to verify their own behavioral health and psychological testing benefits before scheduling.

Questions to ask your insurance company:

  • Does my plan cover psychological testing?

  • Is prior authorization required?

  • Are there limits on testing hours or CPT codes?

  • Do I have a deductible or co-insurance responsibility?

  • Is out-of-network testing covered?

Our Commitment to Transparency

We believe clients deserve clear information about the financial aspects of psychological testing. We strive to provide:

  • Upfront discussion of fees

  • Explanation of insurance limitations

  • Good-faith estimates when possible

  • Collaborative planning regarding evaluation needs

Our goal is to provide meaningful, high-quality evaluations while helping families understand both the clinical and financial process.
